^Lot 648 WWII German Fire Police Helmet

WWII German Fire Police Helmet, with black painted steel body, aluminum crest, tan leather liner with head pad, cork pads around the outside of the liner, and a partial black leather chinstrap. Size 58 marked on liner. Multi-hole stamped vents on both sides. Body appears to be period repainted. Has original Nazi police eagle and national shield decals on either side. The national shield decal has been put over a large swastika decal, showing the change from the early Nazi period. Condition is good, the body showing numerous scratches, scuffs, and light freckling. The aluminum crest shows minor dings, scratches, and light oxidation. Liner is in fair condition showing light age, some tears to the fingers, missing the tie string, and minor soiling. Chinstrap is broken and missing the long section, with just the buckle strap remaining. Est.: $200-$300.
