^Lot 693 Lot of Two (2) British Single Shot Flare Pistols

Lot of Two (2) British Single Shot Flare Pistols: 1.) Webley No. 2 Mk 1 Flare Pistol, #33898, 1.5" bore cal., 4.2" barrel, blued finish, black plastic checkered grips, no sights. Lanyard ring attached to bottom of grip. Marked on left-side barrel "1918/WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD/LONDON & BIRMINGHAM" and "No.2 MARK "I""; left-side frame also marked "No 2 MARK "I". Matching numbers on frame, standing breech, and barrel. Condition overall is about good with the metal retaining approx. 30% finish, the balance showing old rust and patina. Right-side grip has turned to a brown color and both are in fair to good condition showing overall chips and handling marks from use and storage. Action operates smoothly, bright bore is in very good condition. 2.) No. 4 Mk 1* Flare Pistol, #91875, 1.5" bore cal., 4.2" barrel, blued finish, black plastic checkered grips, no sights. No mfgr's name, stamped with model number on left-side barrel "NO 4 MK I*", along with later Birmingham export proof stamps. Birmingham acceptance proof marks are stamped into the left side of the frame. Safety catch on left side of frame releases hammer. Barrel has locking lugs and sliding release for attachment to aircraft. Condition overall is good with the metal retaining approx. 35% finish, now showing old patina and rust, especially around the muzzle. Grips are good showing chips and scratches, with areas of flattening to the checkering. There is patina around the muzzle area, otherwise bore is in good condition. Action operates smoothly.
