Lot 720 Scarce Izhevsk Arsenal Mosin-Nagant Model 1891 Dragoon Bolt Action Rifle

Scarce Izhevsk Arsenal Mosin-Nagant Model 1891 Dragoon Bolt Action Rifle, #108037, 7.62x54R cal., 28.75" barrel, hex receiver, blue finish.  Later type straight grip stock with recoil lug, solid barrel bands, milled band springs, and correct type sling slots. Early type 91/30 handguard has copper end caps with copper rivets. Blade front sight with Type 2 Konovalov rear sight. Barrel shank is marked with "(hammer & sickle)", dated 1921, with early Imperial type Izhevsk "bow & arrow" maker's mark. Top receiver flat with Imperial eagle. Matching numbers are found on the receiver, bolt handle, buttplate, and trigger guard. There is an "A" stamped on rear sight leaf, with various small proof marks throughout. Tang is marked "917r" (1917). No visible import marks. Condition is very good overall. Approx. 85% metal finish remains with thinning and losses, primarily to the barrel and buttplate. Buttplate is lightly pitted with some surface rust. There are intermittent specks of pitting and oxidation visible on the receiver and trigger guard. Factory lettering is clear. Stock has scattered mostly moderate surface dents and scratches, typical signs of military use, with some thinning in the handling areas. Additionally there is a 2" very fine crack to top of the wrist.  Small arsenal type repair to the right side, below the nose cap.  Rear sight spring and screw appear to be a replacement. Action operates smoothly. Bore is dark and moderately frosted throughout. Est.: $700-$900. (C&R)
