Lot 1 Antique British Percussion Short Blunderbuss
Antique British Percussion Short Blunderbuss, NVSN, approx. .52 cal., 15.75" 2-stage barrel bells to 1.75" at ring-turned muzzle, marked "26" (3 times) with 4 Birmingham proof marks at left breech flat; flat lockplate is marked "Glukman/1862/Birmingham" in oval below bolster, "(crown)/JC" at front; brass trigger guard and buttplate are marked "D", iron ramrod with brass barrel tip. Oil-finished walnut fullstock has sling loops fore/aft. Condition is very good, the dark barrel being smooth with scattered light erosion, good edges and clear markings, brass with moderate patina. Stock is sound and smooth with a 1.5" scrape and secure 2" V-crack at left wrist, else light use marks, appears to have had a band 5.25" behind muzzle (now missing) and re-shaped at nose (possibly due to damage). Action is very strong, nipple is mashed, smoothbore shows overall moderate erosion. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
