Civil War Spencer Model 1865 Saddle Ring Carbine, #20359, .52 Spencer cal., 20" round barrel marked "M 1865" at breech has standard carbine sights; receiver has maker's name, address, 1860 patent date and serial number at top, hammer marked "W", saddle ring/bar at left. Oil-finished walnut forend (marked "P") has single band with sling swivel, matching buttstock a crescent buttplate with removable 7-shot cartridge magazine tube, swivel at belly, "E.A.W." (E.A. Williams) and "D.A.P." (Dwight A. Perkins) inspectors' cartouches at left wrist. Mfg'd ca. 1863-65. Condition is near excellent retaining approx. 97% original military blue to barrel, lovely mottled case colors, smooth gunmetal having sharp edges and markings. Stocks are sound showing occasional light dings, sharp cartouches, pleasing color and finish. Action is crisp, original 6-groove bore is bright with sharp rifling and light frosting toward muzzle.
