Springfield Model 1870 Trapdoor Single-Shot Infantry Rifle, #22007, .50-70 CF cal., 32.5" barrel with standard sights (front doubles as bayonet lug), marked "22007" at left breech, "H" at right; receiver marked "22007" at barrel juncture, high-arched breechblock marked "1870/(eaglehead + crossed swords)/U.S." at hinge; M-1863 lock has standard markings, "1863" date; oil-finished walnut fullstock has oval "ESA" (Master Armorer Erskine S. Allin) cartouche at left, 2-pc. trigger guard with swivel, curved buttplate marked "US" and "P/87", 2 bands (top with swivel), nosecap, slotted/grooved ramrod. Mfg'd 1870-73. Condition is fine retaining original bright barrel, approx. 90% blue and case colors, sharp edges and markings. Stock is sound and smooth with scattered light marks, pleasing grain, color, and finish. Action is crisp, lightly-frosted bore is bright with fine rifling. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
