Antique Winchester Model 1885 Hi-Wall Single-Shot Sporting Rifle, #67324, .40-70 CF cal., #3-weight 30" octagonal barrel has standard sights and maker's markings, "40-70 S.S." at breech; "Thickside" receiver has "Pat. Oct. 7th 79" and serial number on lower tang, serpentine trigger guard/operating lever. Oil-stained walnut forend has ebony inlay, matching buttstock a crescent buttplate. Mfg'd 1894. Condition is fine retaining approx. 85% deep barrel blue, softly mottled/silvering case colors (scattered oxidation to receiver, buttplate with minor erosion, pitting at tang), sharp edges and markings. Stocks are sound and smooth showing minimal marks (a couple nicks at belly). Action is crisp, bore is brilliant with sharp rifling and 2" light erosion at muzzle. Hi-Wall/Thickside rifles are scarce and desirable with this #3 barrel and caliber. Est.: $2,500-$3,000. (Antique)
