Lot 322 WWI German M16 Steel Helmet, with Liner

WWI German M16 Steel Helmet, with Liner. Original green painted body fading to scattered light rust patina, a couple of small dents in the top, large lug vents, rolled rim, stamped marking inside "K64", leather liner band, three-pad liner is missing the filling inside the attached cloth pad bags, twisted cord drawstring may be an old replacement, original liner rivets, and has the brass end pieces for a chinstrap on the riveted strap lugs. Condition is good, the outside showing an untouched dry patina with light rust freckles mainly on the top and front visor area, thinning to the paint, scratches, scuffs, and minor paint losses. The inside paint shows thinning to the paint, scattered light rust, and wear on the inside of the visor from use. Liner is dry and shows a few holes in the front pad, sewn repairs to the tips of the pad fingers, heavy soiling, and some nicks in the left pad. Brass chinstrap ends show age and oxidation. Overall, a good original untouched example. Est.: $400-$600.
