^Lot 399 Springfield Model 1896 Krag Bolt Action Rifle

Springfield Model 1896 Krag Bolt Action Rifle, #39607, .30-40 cal., 30" barrel, blued finish, walnut stock set, blade front sight and Model 1901 rear sight. Mfg'd in August 1896. Marked "U.S./MODEL 1896./SPRINGFIELD ARMORY." on left side receiver. There is a faint cartouche on the left side of the wrist and a "P" firing proof on the underside. Condition overall is very good with the metal retaining approx. 80% finish, showing scratches to the left side of the magazine and other parts with a brown patina. Wood has been refinished with varnish, now very good, with old and new handling marks. Action and magazine operate smoothly, bore is fair with darkening in the grooves and fair rifling.
