Lot 616 Battle Damaged Japanese Type 99 Arisaka Bolt Action Rifle
Battle Damaged Japanese Type 99 Arisaka Bolt Action Rifle, #2145, 7.7x58mm, 25.5" barrel, blued finish, two-piece hardwood stock, inverted "V" front sight with protectors and adjustable folding leaf rear sight with aperture. Marked on top of receiver ring with ground-off mum crest over characters for "99 Type". Left-side receiver rail stamped with Fourth Series mark and the two symbols for the Izawa Jyuko Arsenal. Matching number on bayonet lug. #415 stamped on underside of bolt handle. Rifle appears to have been shot with a bullet removing the cocking piece and bending the bolt body with the bolt now jammed inside the receiver. Additional bullets struck the right side of the stock wrist removing approx. a 3"x2" section of wood. Condition overall is poor with most of the metal frosted with a rust patina. Stock is cracked forward of the damaged area and shows other handling marks and darkening to the finish. Muzzle inspection shows a good bore with good shallow rifling. Action cannot be operated. Est.: $300-$500. (C&R)
