Lot 669 Chilean 1912 Contract Steyr-Hahn M1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol

Chilean 1912 Contract Steyr-Hahn M1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol, #4386D, 9mm Steyr cal., 5.2" barrel, blued finish, hammer in the white, integral fixed blade front sight and integral fixed rear sight with small "v" notch, internal magazine, single action, external hammer, side safety lever, lanyard loop, and checkered wood grips. Slide marked with the Chilean crest, "Steyr 1912", "MOD.1911", "Ejercito de Chile", various small proof marks, and large "S". Rare Chilean contract of 5,000 pistols, and this example has not been converted to 9mm Luger. Import stamped marking on inside of frame at front muzzle area. Condition is very good retaining approx. 85% original blued finish, with high edgewear at the front of the slide, front frame edges, trigger guard edges, and tops of sights. Front grip strap shows some freckling and light scratches; rear grip strap is very strong, high edges of the safety and hold open lever show light wear, and edges of the lanyard loop. Barrel, trigger, and hammer show age graying and light freckling to the "in the white" polished finish. Action, hold open, and safety all function properly; bore is bright with strong lands and grooves. Grips show wear, scratches, light depressions and dings, and some flattened diamonds.
