Modified Spanish Model 1893 Mauser Bolt Action Rifle, #E5494, 7x57mm, 22.4" barrel, black-painted finish, hardwood stock, inverted "V" front sight and adjustable folding leaf rear sight. Marked on top of receiver ring "(Crown)FABRICA DE ARMAS/OVIEDO/1898". Mismatched numbers on bolt handle. Rifle has been modified by cutting back and re-shaping barrel and forend, bending bolt handle, and removing buttstock sling mount. Condition is good as modified, with the metal retaining approx. 60% finish. Wood has had added varnish applied, now in good condition, with a drilled hole in the butt; gouges and overall handling marks to the finish. Action operates smoothly; bore has darkening in the grooves, otherwise good with good rifling. No visible import marks. Est.: $200-$300. (Modern)
