Unusual Probably European Percussion Cavalry Carbine, Unmarked as to Maker or Origin, NVSN, .69 cal., 13.5" round barrel marked "2/B" at left, has blade front and raised-notch rear sights, integral nipple bolster at octagonal breech; flat lockplate with squared front and military style hammer is unmarked; steel fittings include loop trigger guard (marked "4" in 2 places) with finger-spur and sling ring on long rear tang, crescent buttplate (marked "4") with reinforced lower tang, belt loop (marked "4") at right-side of buttstock, spring-retained band/nosecap holding the ball-tip ramrod. Walnut halfstock. Mfg'd likely 1840s-60s. Condition is good, the metal surfaces being polished bright. Stock is sound with added varnish. Action is strong (nipple replaced), bore is clean with scattered light pitting and sharp rifling. Est.: $600-$900. (Antique)
