Civil War Spencer Saddle Ring Carbine, #57360, .52 RF cal., unmarked 22" round barrel has standard carbine sights; receiver has the maker's name, address, 1860 pat. date and serial number at top, saddle ring/bar at left. Oil-finished walnut forend has single band, matching buttstock a crescent buttplate with removable 7-shot cartridge magazine tube, sling swivel at belly, "S.W.P." (Samuel W. Porter) and "D.A.P." (Dwight A. Perkins) inspectors' cartouches at left wrist. Mfg'd ca. 1863-65. Condition is very good retaining no original blue, silvered case colors, generally smooth gray/brown gunmetal (barrel shows scattered light oxidation) with fine edges and markings. Stocks are sound showing occasional light marks and dings, legible cartouches. Action is crisp, original 6-groove bore is bright with sharp rifling and very light frosting. Est.: $1,800-$2,400.
