Rare James Reid Spurtrigger Cartridge Pocket Revolver, Model 2, #1781, .32 RF cal., 4.75" octagonal barrel without ejector rod is unmarked; 7-shot cylinder has thin locking notches; solid frame has screw-out cylinder pin, unusual swing-up loading gate at right, integral spurtrigger sheath and flat-butt straps, 2-pc. varnished rosewood grips. Mfg'd ca. 1862-64, est. just 1,200 qty. Condition is good retaining traces of barrel blue, perhaps a hint of silver at left-side lug, else smooth gray gunmetal having sharp edges. Grips are sound with much original varnish, highpoint wear, chipping to finish (esp. right side). Single-action is crisp, bore shows overall light erosion, fair rifling. Unmarked to evade Rollin White's bored-thru cylinder patent. Est.: $1,000-$1,200. (Antique)
