Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum (Pre-Model 27) Double Action Revolver, #S162635, 8-3/8" pinned barrel, checkered diamond center walnut target grips with S&W medallions, Patridge front sight, square-notched fully adjustable rear sight, color case hardened serrated trigger and checkered hammer. Frame and yoke with matching assembly numbers (15998). Barrel, cylinder, and extractor are numbered to the gun. Shipped to Harris & Stroh, San Francisco, CA, Jan. 26, 1956; with factory letter signed by S&W Historian Roy G. Jinks. Letter verifies barrel length and finish. In a two-piece gold box, bottom is faintly numbered and not completely legible in black grease pen but does not match this revolver. Condition is near excellent retaining approx. 95% factory blue. There is light wear at the muzzle and thin index line to the cylinder, otherwise showing intermittent handling marks and small blemishes associated with handling and use. Factory lettering is clear. Case colors are strong, nearly all remain. Grip checkering is sharp, smooth borders have a few minor handling marks. Action cycles smoothly and locks up securely. Bore is very good, bright with well-defined rifling. Box shows moderate storage type wear and a little deformation to the end panels, metal reinforced corners are intact, graphic and lettering is clear. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (C&R/PPT)
