Lot 151 British Air Ministry Marked No. 2 MK IV Lee-Enfield Bolt Action Rifle

British Air Ministry Marked No. 2 MK IV Lee-Enfield Bolt Action Rifle, #971, .22 LR cal., 25.2" barrel, blued finish, walnut stock set, blade front sight with protectors and adjustable tangent rear sight. An excellent condition British Air Ministry marked blue cotton sling is attached. Rifle was arsenal converted and is marked on the right-side action body with the original "(crown)/GR/ENFIELD/1918/SHTLE/III*". Right-side receiver ring marked "AM/971" indicating conversion to an Air Ministry training rifle by fitting a .22 cal. Barrel, a magazine with no follower, and installing a special bolt head marked ".22 No. 2C". Rear of bolt handle and nose cap stamped with matching numbers. Rear sight leaf marked with different numbers. Condition overall is very good with the metal retaining approx. 85% finish, the magazine showing edgewear, scratches, and patina. Two wood inserts are missing from the top of the rear hand guard. Wood is very good showing impressions and handling marks to the dark-applied finish. There are a few small dark spots below the muzzle, otherwise the bore is bright with very good rifling. Action operates smoothly. Import stamped on right side of receiver. Est.: $700-$900. (C&R)
