Lot 179 Winchester M1 Semi-Automatic Carbine
Winchester M1 Semi-Automatic Carbine, #1067316, .30 Carbine cal., 18" barrel, original parkerized finish with blued barrel, flat bolt, "I" cut walnut stock set, blade front sight with protectors and two-position flip rear sight with aperture. Receiver is the desirable early Winchester design with the first type of mainspring housing. A very good condition U.S.G.I. green cotton sling with reproduction oiler is fitted. No magazine is attached. Marked "WINCHESTER" on receiver tang, and "U.S.CARBINE CAL. .30 M1" on receiver ring. Barrel behind the front sight is marked with a "W" and a "WP" proof stamp. Stock is unmarked. Condition overall is very good with the metal retaining over 80% finish, showing dark toning to the receiver and patina to the operating handle and buttplate. Wood has been sanded and the stock has been re-shaped at the front of the comb, now in good condition with an even colored stained finish. Action operates smoothly, bright bore is good with good rifling. No visible import marks. A great candidate for restoration. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (C&R/PPT)
