COLOMBIA, gilt brass proof uniface obverse of silver 500 pesos, 1978, 100th Anniversary of the Death of Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera / Wildlife Conservation Series - Crocodile, NGC PF 68 Ultra Cameo, ex-JEAS. Restrepo-pp. 266-7; for type: KM-264. Choice mirror fields, no marks at all and with only the faintest spot of copper, probably rare, a curious instance of a gold finish on brass flan for a silver-coin die, the reverse of which would show a crocodile. Pedigreed to the JEAS Collection (stated on label).
