PERU, Pasco, 4 reales, 1857 (no assayer), very rare, NGC VF 30, ex-Flatt Plate, ex-Sellschopp, ex-O'Brien. KM-151.10. Typically flat face but with strong toning that intensifies around details, creating a ghost-like effect with Liberty's draped apparel, very rare without assayer and the finest recorded, significantly missing in both the Whittier and Pat Johnson collections. Plate Coin in Flatt, pedigreed to the Sellschopp Collection (Swiss Bank Corp. auction of September 1988, lot 1241) and to the John O'Brien Collection (all three stated on label), with his tag.
