Lot 91 1785 Connecticut Miller 4.3-D R5+ MBR, Counterstamped "IB" Brunk-43, F15
Sharper but covered with microscopic roughness under slightly glossy dark olive brown and steel toning. There are some tiny pits at the top of the reverse and a patch of roughness at the knee of the seated figure. The only significant contact mark is a scrape on the edge at EC in CONNEC. Counterstamped IB inside a small incuse rectangle high on the neck. This rare stamp is attributed to John Bayley, a Philadelphia silversmith. A great early counterstamp, and it comes with a nice provenance. Weight 146.9 grains.
