Lot 185 1787 Connecticut Miller 33.36-T.2 R2 DBL, PCGS graded VF30

Rather glossy golden light brown and tan with light reddish chocolate in protected areas. Lightly worn with no verdigris or notable contact marks, but the planchet is oddly defective. In addition to a straight planchet clip at CO (end of strip), there are two significant but reasonably smooth voids on the obverse: one from the chest to CO and another in the field before the face. The planchet is not perfectly round, either. The legends are strong and the 87 is clear, but the 17 is weakened by a small planchet void. The attribution is written in the field before the chin and neck, and this piece comes from the famous Taylor collection. Weight listed as a rather skimpy 115.6 grains in the Taylor catalog (makes sense considering the voids). The attribution and Twin Leaf provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
