Lot 1553 PAIR OF RARE “NEW CALEDONIA” MADE WW2 FIGHTING
KNIVES WITH SHEATHS. Here is a pair of rarely encountered “New Caledonia” fighting knives, larger grips & blades, but same manufacturing characteristics: 1) 13" overall, 8" blade, 1.1" wide. 2.5" guard hand-engraved “Noumea” and “New Caledonia”. L-shaped stag grip attached with 2 iron pins. Very good overall with accompanying Brown leather sheath. Unattached accessory: hand-drawn card by Roger Ballard 2) 13" overall, 8.25" blade, 1.3" wide, unmarked 2.5" thick brass ovoid cross guard, slightly curved tapered out stag grip fits and nicely. Accompanied by buck stitched brown leather holster. Very good overall. Unattached accessory: hand-drawn card by Roger Ballard. PROVENANCE: Roger Ballard collection. (02-15165/JS). $600-900.
