Nesmith-26b type; Cal-123; S-M4; KM-17. 13.52 grams. Well struck and deeply gunmetal-toned with clear legends and interiors on a full flan, the shield side slightly off-center, the pillars side featuring the beautiful quatrefoils used only by this assayer, from a type (oMo-oPo with left-leaning panel) that encompasses the largest variety of legends, a majority from the later HISPANIARVM period, like this example. Recovered from: “Golden Fleece wreck,” sunk ca. 1550 in the northern Caribbean
