BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, Philip II, assayer B (early 3rd period), ex-Sellschopp (Plate), Grunthal-Sellschopp Plate. S-P10; KM-5.1; Cal-672. 27.01 grams. Broad flan extending past the outer border in a couple places, with full crown and legends, choice full interior details including bold assayer that appears to be a makeshift B crafted from an S-punch, AXF with toning in crevices, desirable pedigree. Pedigreed to the Sellschopp Collection (Swiss Bank Corp. auction of September 1988, with original lot-tag 486) and Plate Coin 156 in his book Las acuñaciones de las cecas de Lima, La Plata y Potosí 1568-1651 (1971), also Plate Coin 307 on page 142 of Grunthal-Sellschopp's The Coinage of Peru (1978).
